PERSONALLY FROM DR. JOHN
Dentistry historically has been based on a “repair model”, replacing fillings, filling holes or replacing missing teeth. The goal of my relationship with the patients in our practice is to enable them to benefit from a level of oral heath that will rely as minimally as possible on the “repair model” of care.
My contemporary practice philosophy is based on a “health model” of care. This model is designed to predict disease before it even happens or is expressed, thereby ensuring the continuity of your oral health throughout your lifetime.
Everyone brings with them a unique set of variables that contribute to their level of susceptibility to oral disease. We know now through current medical research that disease processes in the mouth have a significant relationship to several very important systems in the rest of the body. For example, the health of your gum tissues also referred to as “periodontal tissues” have been proven to be correlated with your risk of heart disease, stroke, and even pancreatic cancer. When visiting my practice, patients have the technology available to them that enables the proactive evaluation of each individual’s risk for dental disease with the goal that intervention can be introduced before serious complications are allowed to occur.
On a much more personal note, being a Dentist is what I dreamed of accomplishing my entire life. It is the special relationships that I have with my team members and patients that make this profession so endearing and powerful to me. The best rewards come when our patients, because they are happy and satisfied with our practice, start bringing their loved ones, family, friends to our Practice – the greatest form of flattery is a referral. The desired cosmetic results, pain relief, and the comfort they feel when visiting make our patients happy, and that makes me happy. When I see our patients leave our office with a healthy smile, it makes my heart sing the whole day. I am so thankful that I get to do what I do each and every day. It is a privilege like no other. For this reason, I will cherish this profession and all that it has given me for the rest of my life.
I hope that this is a clear indication of my commitment to ensuring that our actions are guided at all times by your best interests.
We look forward to seeing you in our practice.
