At our Victoria dental clinic, Dr. Bjornson can place thin slices of tooth-coloured porcelain called veneers, onto a tooth, to alter the look of a patient's smile.
Bring Back Your Bright Smile
Veneers are tooth-coloured and thin ceramic shells that a dentist permanently bonds to the fronts of your teeth. They are custom-shaped and shaded before adding them to your smile to match the natural colour of your teeth and your facial structure.
Veneers can provide a lasting fix for cracked, chipped, stained, or slightly misaligned teeth, and they can resist staining from food, drinks, and cigarettes.
Veneers not only cover stains but can help with the appearance of chipped or abnormally sized teeth, evening out the contour of your smile and lengthening teeth that may be noticeably shorter than your others.
At Dental On Fort, we use CEREC® technology to place ceramic tooth-coloured veneers in just one visit.
The Procedure
The veneer placement procedure is a relatively quick and easy way to alter the appearance and shape of your teeth, requiring little to no anesthesia.
First, the dentist will make a 3D scan of the tooth surface. This scan will then be used to develop a virtual model of the tooth for your custom porcelain veneer.
Once ready, often in one visit using CEREC® technology, the veneers are permanently bonded to the fronts of your teeth, updating the appearance of your smile.
The Results
When comparing porcelain veneers quite closely to your natural teeth, you may notice small variations in the colouring between the two.
That said, colour variations can even occur in natural teeth and the casual observer will likely not notice these.
Some patients may decide to have a teeth whitening procedure before having veneers placed so that the colour of the veneers is matched to their whiter, brighter shade.
